Media & Insecurity

My kid in the lap sleeping….

And I have started typing….

It is the season of 1984-86 Born Boys and 1987-91 Born Girls who got married and having kids. [The above is dates are based on generic terms]. Fortunately we also had a kid.

After initial days of sharing joy over Facebook and other social media, in retrospect I have found that most of my friend’s circle fathered/mothered to male kids. When discussing the same with one of my friend.

The person says” “Thank God it is a baby boy.”

With a perplexed expression I have questioned the person “Why? What is wrong with a baby girl?”

Then the person says with a sense of relief that, “In the current society scenario it is difficult to have a baby girl”

Then the conversation went along. After the discussion I always wondered why he/she said those words?

1 We always witnessed atrocities on women from our grandmothers till now. The number of incidents would have obviously increased with exponential growth of population. But publicizing it and creating a loss of secured feeling has been done by the media of early 2000s successfully.

2 Boys/Girls both are victims when it comes to abuse. Media encourages people to be sympathetic about women rather than projecting them as humans with a different skill set. When such a projection hits the minds of people they obviously will be able understand that it is a bad to get hurt and one should recover when an injury happens physically. But, the prejudice/stigma is never eradicated by media and they are even increased by repeatedly quoting the words they want to put in our mouths.

3 Subconsciously it does affect our thinking. Day in Day out we interact with media a lot apart from work and family. When you get a chance to make a positive impact on society, instead of doing it they are exploiting the time frame to create such lack of non-sense. We are not asking to create a false well- being, Most of the media reports what they think is truth. Not the TRUTH.

4 Not only women,  Both man and women are in danger because In the society there is

lack of equality,

lack of values,

People study now a days for job rather than knowledge.

Everything must be quantized or monetized.

Change should come working a lot and earning a lot is going to get you falsehood of Love/Affection/Security. Things that you buy using those will induce the feelings you never wished for.

You may have money but you will not have people around you when you are alone/dead. Money will buy you a lavish death ceremony but not a tear.

Discard inhibitions and Fear and talk. Don’t argue. Winning an argument always leaves a sore loser. Developing a mutual opinion always helps win a community. Strive to achieve those. Don’t fall prey for media’s stories. You need to look around yourself and act to something that doesn’t seem well. You may be fooled once or even ten times. But patience always wins, when you believe in something it takes time and confidence to see the good come out of it.
