Problem 1
Inadequate Change in the daily commuting buses.
Every day we board a government bus to commute to various locations based on our need to survive.
Few times due to circumstances not favouring us we will be short of change to buy a ticket. Sometimes the conductor gives change and sometimes not. When they don't have change to return either they give us a rupee less or some times ask us to share the between two passengers who again don't know how to get distribute with inadequate resources on the road. This whole ordeal will lead to wastage of time. In the latter scenario we end up losing money sometimes by lack of change sometimes by forgetting when we are in a hurry.
The solution
Instead of printing a ticket let the bus operators release a card similar to ATM. Which can be used with the help of a handheld machine in the conductors hand. Now it will be a cash less transaction.
The person who wants to travel has to provide the card to conductor who will swipe and collect the cash electronically depending on the on boarding and destination. This will help in the removal of hassle related to change.
The card issued by these bus corporations can be linked to bank or mobile which helps them to get the fare immediately from the back account or the mobile money. (Don't allow them to link to credit cards).
Meanwhile people who don't have access to such facilities like mobile and bank they can pay money and the excess change can be credited into the card instead of running around for change. Which can be used on their next trip.
They should have a customer care centre which caters to the lost/dis-continued cards balance being transferred to other cards or bank accounts or mobile money. They should also allow the transfer of money/credit in the card to other person's card. This way all will have a win-win solution.
