While reading the Last Lecture by
Randy pausch, came across a topic which is quite debatable by taking
the stands on both sides. Though the true intentions of reference in
the book is relevant at that point. It created few ripples in my
thoughts and then made me choose the maverick to ride on it.
In the section pouring soda over the
backseat his intentions are clear and loud saying that things are
less or of no importance compared to humans. I partially agree with
it.
Because of few aspects mentioned below
1 We are not in an infinite resources
providing planet.
2 Things we buy to use, are bought as
an exchange of our personal time.
3 Accidents are OK and even can be
waived off. Intentional accidents needs to be put under the scanner.
We don't have abundant resources to
break everything and fix it. Even if we have access to abundant
resources like from other planets, then also abundance will only lead
to huge unnecessary repetitive choices at personal front and
products. The current trends show that everyone is unique and this is
strongly wired into all the people's mindsets. Now a person's
Uniqueness comes from his character. Now the products in the market
focused are linked with this uniqueness of the person. So. When a
person is objectified by his possessions not by his virtue of nature
then he section of Pouring soda holds true.
We cannot intentionally break
something and show off to people saying that i care more about fellow
human beings. If you are caring a person then tell the other person.
Don't break buy a thing break it or damage it and say that you care
for her/him. If you want to show how much you care no need to break a
thing that you have bought, give away the things who value them most
and live you life pleasantly with your dear one. If you have created
something then keep it safe some where no need to destroy it
completely like tony stark in IRONMAN3. He justified destroying the
suit as it is his cocoon which is stopping him from spending time
with his love of life. Destroy the cocoon you live in not the
things.
Some people make accidents happen those are those
mischievous category. They love breaking as something really bad
broke them up and they want to see everything broken. Like they
typify in movies. So, for them this theory doesn't work. You need to
be careful around them and keep your things safe because those things
you bough are with the exchange of time you used to earn money.
